Since they started serving the public in 1989 this organisation has become a significant role player within their community. Their goals are to help uplift the locals and to empower them. They work towards this objective by running various programmes. Currently Jireh offers an Educare programme, a programme for young mothers called Scarlet as well as a programme aimed specifically at men called Fathers and Sons. They also care for seniors in their community and provide after-care for children.

Families who are struggling and living in poverty can come to them for assistance. Parents and children alike are given educational and recreational opportunities at the Jireh Centre. The long-term goal is to help improve parent/child relationships.

Team members from the Beacon Valley branch visited the centre to hand over a brand new double door fridge. Janice Erasmus, Director at Jireh, thanked them for the assistance. "The fridge will help us to store bigger quantities of food for our centre. It will help us to keep our vegetables fresh for longer and will allow us to plan meals better," she said.
